A dynamic region



With a total GDP of 34 billion Euros, and a population of 1.4 million inhabitants, the Champagne Ardennes region is a dynamic region providing a high standard of life (GBP of 25,000 euros/inhabitant).


The economy of the Champagne Ardenne region gathers three characteristics :  


  • a farming sector playing a traditionnally strong role, including an annual production capacity of 330 million bottles of champagne.

  • a food industry relying on the cereal industry, the wine industry and the milk industry. The region is the homeland of Europe's biggest cereal group (Champagne Céréales), of the Soufflet Group, of the AOC Champagne and of many big food companies.

  • a strong industry (19% of the region's added value), mainly based on metallurgy, the textile industry and the intermediate production goods. 






A region internationaly oriented


Located in the heart of the big exchange flows between Northern Europe, Italy and Flanders, the Champagne Ardennes region is a zone of transit.

It has a dense road network
(motorways A4, A5, A26, N4, A31 and A34) and provide a true connection between any means of transportation, thanks to the harbours of Givet and Nogent sur Seine, to the railways sorting station of Chalindrey, and to its many regional airports.

The Champagne Ardennes territory is the host land of various foreign companies, who employ 30,000 people in the region, and welcomes a growing quantity of foreign direct investments.
